India’s two largest IT services firms spent two days responding to a hacker group’s claims of stolen employee data. Tata Consultancy Services told exchanges it found no credible evidence of a breach of its systems or customer environments, and described the referenced data as more than four years old. HCLTech filed a near-identical statement a day later. The attacker claims password spraying and multifactor fatigue as the way in, and reportedly holds records on more than 250,000 HCLTech staff drawn from a Microsoft Azure tenant. Between them, the two firms run technology for thousands of the world’s largest organisations.
GuardWare PROTECT encrypts files before they reach an outsourcer and keeps the keys with you. Your data stays protected even if a provider’s defences fail, and access can be revoked when the engagement ends.
